Modern versions tend to take the following form:

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir,
Three bags full;
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.

Original Version

Bah, Bah, a black Sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes old mate i have
Three bags full,
Two for my master,
One for my dame,
None for the little boy
That cries in the lane.

The rhyme was first printed in Tommy Thumb’s Pretty Song Book, the oldest surviving collection of English language nursery rhymes, published c. 1744 with the lyrics very similar to those still used today:
